Megève has an asset many resorts envy: an almost permanent balcony onto Mont Blanc. From the heights above the village, the massif fills the whole horizon, and the trails suit family strolls and altitude routes alike. In summer you walk the pastures; in winter you strap on snowshoes to cross silent forests.
Summer: on foot, facing the massif
The Mont d’Arbois, Le Jaillet and Mont Joly sectors open a network of trails for every level. From a quiet path between mountain chalets to the climb of Mont Joly (2,525 m), the finest viewpoint around, there’s something for every pair of legs. The gondolas that run in summer let you gain height without walking it all. A guided hike adds reading of the landscape and the safety of a leader on the altitude routes.
Winter: on snowshoes
When snow blankets the plateaus, snowshoes take over. Outings set off from the heights of Megève or the neighbouring valleys towards forests and clearings the ski lifts never touch. A guided, private snowshoe day lets you aim for the finest routes, far from the pistes, with a professional managing the track and the weather.
