Skiing in Manigod is the family, quiet side of the great Aravis area. Around the l’Étale sector, the area is linked to La Clusaz: with the Aravis pass, you reach the whole thing (around 125 km of pistes), while enjoying on the Manigod side a gentler, less crowded ski, facing the range.
The area
- L’Étale: the heart of the Manigod sector, with pistes for all levels, linked to La Clusaz over the heights.
- The Aravis link: from Manigod, the whole La Clusaz area opens up, up to the five massifs and the more committing pistes.
- Night skiing: Manigod has the largest night-skiing space in Savoie Mont-Blanc, with several floodlit pistes, an experience apart.
Who it suits
Manigod is an ideal resort for families and beginner to intermediate skiers: gentle slopes, a calm atmosphere, and the chance to tip over to the great La Clusaz area when you want wider skiing. Traditions are alive here, like the paret, that single-runner wooden sled you learn to steer.
Booking
Passes (Manigod alone or Aravis for the whole linked area) are bought from the resort, online or at the lift ticket offices. For lessons, head to the ESF or a local ski school, and book early during school holidays.
Good to know
Altitude. The area peaks above the village; low-altitude snow can be patchy, but the link to the heights of La Clusaz secures the day.
Night skiing. A Manigod speciality: skiing under the floodlights, an experience to try at least once.
The Aravis pass. To enjoy the whole linked area (Manigod + La Clusaz), it’s the option to choose.
Getting around. As the village is scattered, a car is useful to reach the lift bases.
