Hiking in Manigod: Col de la Croix-Fry, l'Étale and chapels

In summer, Manigod unrolls one of the finest hiking grounds in the Aravis, in peace. From the hamlets and the Col de la Croix-Fry, the trails climb towards the pastures and summits, facing the jagged range. From family walks to the climb of l’Étale, by way of the chapel route, everyone finds their pace.

Where to walk

  • The Col de la Croix-Fry: a balcony at 1,467 m, the starting point of many hikes towards the pastures and ridges, reached by car.
  • L’Étale: the emblematic summit of the area, for hikers who want a real panorama over the Aravis.
  • The chapel route: an itinerary linking the six chapels of the hamlets, mixing walking, heritage and landscapes, perfect for families.
  • The Aravis pastures: trails between farms and grazing land, where you cross herds and mountain chalets.

Making the most of it

A guided outing with a mountain leader helps choose the right route, read the landscape and discover the wildlife and flora of the Aravis. It’s also a chance to link hiking and heritage, from the Col de la Croix-Fry to the chapel route.
