Mountain biker on a downhill trail in the Morzine bike park
Things to do

Mountain biking in Morzine: bike park and Portes du Soleil

In summer, Morzine becomes one of the world’s mountain-biking capitals. The same area you ski in winter turns into a giant playground for the bike: the gondolas carry the bikes up, and hundreds of kilometres of trails drop back down to the valley. From families to experienced riders, everyone finds their terrain.

The terrain

  • The Morzine-Avoriaz bike park: graded downhill trails, from green to black, served by the Pléney and Super-Morzine lifts. You string descents together without pedalling up.
  • The Portes du Soleil MTB network: one of Europe’s largest mountain-biking networks, cross-border, linking Morzine, Avoriaz, Les Gets, Châtel and the Swiss resorts. Enough for days of riding.
  • Enduro and cross-country: beyond the bike park, countless mountain routes for those who like climbing as much as descending.

How it works

You buy a bike pass for the day or longer, giving access to the lifts fitted to carry bikes. Full-suspension bike and protection rental is available on site, and instructors offer lessons and guided outings to progress or discover the best trails safely.

Booking

Lift passes, bike rental and coaching are booked with the resort, the rental shops and the bike schools of Morzine. In high season and during the big events, book your rental ahead.

Good to know

Level. There are trails for everyone, but bike-park downhill calls for protection and a minimum of confidence. Beginners start on the green and blue runs.

Gear. A full-face helmet, protection and a suitable bike are essential for downhill; everything rents on site.

Season. From June to September, when the MTB lifts run. The Pass’Portes du Soleil, in June, opens the whole area over a festive weekend.

With the family. There are easy zones and trails, and treetop courses or green runs suit children.
