In summer, Avoriaz swaps snow for dirt and becomes a playground for the mountain bike, at the heart of one of Europe’s largest networks: the Portes du Soleil. Its altitude (1,800 m) and central position make it an ideal starting point to string descents together and explore a cross-border area linking Avoriaz, Morzine, Les Gets, Châtel and the Swiss resorts.
The terrain
- The altitude bike park: graded downhill trails, served by the lifts, to string runs together without pedalling up.
- The Portes du Soleil MTB network: hundreds of kilometres of linked routes, from gentle flow to committing downhill, all the way into Switzerland.
- Enduro and the mountains: beyond the bike park, great routes for self-guided riding between resorts and passes.
How it works
You buy a bike pass giving access to the lifts fitted to carry bikes. Full-suspension bike and protection rental is available on site, and instructors offer lessons and guided outings to progress or discover the best trails safely.
Booking
Lift passes, bike rental and coaching are booked with the resort, the rental shops and the bike schools of Avoriaz and Morzine. In high season and during the big events like the Pass’Portes du Soleil, book your rental ahead.
