A few minutes from Morzine, Lake Montriond is one of the loveliest surprises in the Chablais. Nestled at the foot of high cliffs and forest, this natural lake with its emerald waters offers a cool, quiet break, away from the bustle of the resorts. It’s the valley families’ summer spot, for swimming and for walking alike.
By the water
The lake invites swimming in bracing mountain water, from its banks and small grassy beaches. You can also rent paddleboards, pedalos and rowboats to glide on the water, and anglers find a fine stretch here. The setting, hemmed in between the rock walls, is spectacular and shifts in light through the day.
All around
A path circles the lake, flat and shaded, open to all, ideal with the family or for a quiet walk. A stone’s throw away, the Ardent waterfall tumbles down the cliff and rounds off the stroll. Higher up, the Montriond and Lindarets area opens onto hikes and the famous goat village.

Access to the lake is free. Paddleboard, pedalo and rowboat rentals are arranged directly on site in season. For guided hikes or supervised activities around Montriond, contact the professionals and the Morzine-Avoriaz tourist office.
Good to know
Swimming. The water stays cool, it’s a mountain lake. Swimming isn’t always supervised: take care with children.
Season. From late spring to autumn for swimming and rentals. The walk around the lake works year-round.
Access and parking. The lake is a few minutes from Morzine; the car park fills quickly on fine summer days, come early.
