Canyoning in Les Carroz: a fun guided descent from age 6

Canyoning is one of summer’s nicest surprises in Les Carroz. In the nearby La Balme gorge, you descend the stream bed on foot, swimming and sliding: jumps, natural slides and abseils follow one another in clear water, with a guide leading the way. It’s playful, refreshing and open to children from age 6 — a genuine family outing.

What you do

Led by a qualified instructor, you make your way down the La Balme canyon, alternating walking, swimming and sliding. Beginner routes favour natural slides and small jumps (always optional), with a few rope abseils to clear the steeper drops. Gear (wetsuit, helmet, harness) is provided; you just need to be comfortable moving through water. Open from age 6, it’s an ideal discovery for children and adults alike.

Booking

The outing below is bookable online, through our partner. It’s led by a professional, gear included, by reservation (seasonal times, beginner level from age 6). Check the minimum age, duration and meeting point before booking.

Good to know

Season. Canyoning runs from summer into early autumn, when flow and water temperature allow.

Level. Beginner route from age 6; you need to be at ease in water, without needing to swim perfectly.

What to bring. Swimwear under the wetsuit, secure closed shoes, a towel and dry clothes for afterwards.

For families. Jumps are always optional: everyone picks their own level, which makes the outing reassuring for children.
