It’s Combloux’s signature summer attraction: a biotope lake — a natural swimming area whose water is purified by plants, with no chlorine or chemicals. One of the largest of its kind in Europe, it sits facing Mont Blanc — you swim in clear water, filtered by an aquatic garden, with the highest peak in the Alps as a backdrop.
What you do
The biotope lake separates a swimming zone and a planted regeneration zone: plants and micro-organisms filter the water, as in a natural environment. You swim and bathe as a family, enjoy the grassy beaches and the view. Supervised in season, the area offers beaches, lawns and water-based activities. It’s a gentle, eco-friendly experience, very different from a conventional pool.
Booking
Access to the biotope lake is by ticket, on site, according to summer opening hours (generally from summer to the first days of September, in fine weather). Check hours and prices with the operator or the Combloux tourist office before you go.
Good to know
Season. Open in summer, in fine weather; the water, being natural, depends on weather and temperature.
