Annecy is one of the world’s great paragliding spots, and the reason is one word: the lake. Taking off from the Col de la Forclaz or Montmin on the eastern shore, then circling above the turquoise water with mountains all around, is an experience few sites match. The tandem flight is flown with an instructor, no experience needed.
The experience
The instructor handles everything: a few running steps at take-off, then sit back and enjoy. Depending on the option, the flight lasts 15 to 40 minutes.
- Discovery flight: the most accessible, for a first time and great photos.
- Thermal / prestige flight: the pilot works the rising air to stay up longer and climb higher, sometimes with a video or refreshments included.
- Acrobatic flight: for thrill-seekers, sharp turns and wingovers (on request).
Where you take off
The classic sites are on the eastern shore, above Talloires and Menthon: the Forclaz, Montmin, Planfait. Landing is usually on the meadows by the lake at Doussard. The panorama over the lake and the Bauges massif during the descent is the main draw.

Good to know
When to fly. Possible for much of the year, with the best conditions from spring to autumn. The flight depends on the weather: wind and cloud base decide, and operators often confirm the slot the same morning.
Morning or late afternoon. Calmer air for a smooth flight; midday thermals give longer but bumpier flights.
What to wear. Closed shoes, warm clothing (it’s cooler at altitude and in flight), sunglasses.
Indicative price. From around €90–110 for a discovery flight, more for a thermal or prestige flight.
