In summer, Le Grand-Bornand becomes one of the finest hiking grounds in the Aravis. From the chalet-dotted pastures, the trails climb to panoramas that take in the whole range, from the Roc des Tours to Lake Lessy, all the way to the history-laden Glières plateau. From families to seasoned walkers, everyone finds their route.
Where to walk
- The Roc des Tours: an emblematic summit above Le Chinaillon, famous for its view and its paragliding take-offs. An alpine exploration accessible with a leader.
- The Chinaillon panoramas: walks discovering the wildlife and flora, facing the Aravis, ideal to grasp the mountain without too much effort.
- Lake Lessy: an altitude lake in a wild cirque, one of the valley’s finest hikes.
- The Glières plateau: a major Resistance site, a vast plateau of pastures perfect for family walks in summer and cross-country skiing in winter.
Making the most of it
